Hiroshige and Hokusai

This Christmas my lovely G.P.D (Grandpa Dennis) gave me some wonderful books from two legendary Japanese artists: Hiroshige and Hokusai. Both of these artists spent a lifetime refining their techniques in woodblock printing to beautifully capture the landscapes, people and animals of Edo (Tokyo). I find their lives fascinating. The personal scarifies they both made for their artwork and their unparalleled strive to develop their skills to match their vision is truly inspiring. It has motivated me to really practice and develop my craft and aspire to capture and compose a similar level of beauty within my own work.
